Loans

1. Private Loans with French Partner Bank

Thanks to a partnership with French bank Banque Populaire, AGS offers the possibility for all its students under age 28 regardless of their nationality to obtain a loan in France at a very competitive rate, with no requirement of a third party guarantee.

2. Country-Specific Loans

We encourage students of all nationalities to research opportunities in their country and we provide them with assistance during the loan application process.

U.S. Federal Loans for U.S. Students

U.S. citizens enrolled in the Master or Ph.D. programs at AGSIRD are eligible for U.S. Federal loans:

  • Stafford loans, for which all U.S. citizens and some U.S. residents qualify regardless of their credit history

  • And GradPlus loans, designed to cover the difference between the total cost of attendance of the program and all other aid already obtained.

National Loans For Canadian Students

AGSIRD is eligible for provincial student loans in British Columbia and Ontario. Agreements may be obtained for other provinces. Please contact the This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

3. AGS School Loans

In some exceptional cases, AGS may grant a loan directly to the student. Please note that these loans are exclusively granted to students who do not have other possible aid.

Grants and Scholarships

The John A. Lee Memorial Scholarship

The American Graduate School of International Relations and Diplomacy grants scholarships based on merit and/or need. Although AGSIRD gives priority to students who do not have other possible aid, scholarships may exceptionally be granted to U.S. Students who may otherwise benefit from U.S. Federal loans.

Third party Grants and Scholarships

We strongly encourage students to research grant and scholarship opportunities in their country as well as with institutions of other countries.
