An American M.A. and a European Master's degree in Two Years

Double-Degree Program in International Relations, Diplomacy, and Negotiation

While working toward the Master's degree at AGSIRD, students may undertake a double-degree program in international relations and diplomacy and simultaneously earn two Master's degrees over the course of two years:

  • An American M.A. in International Relations and Diplomacy

  • A European Master's degree in Diplomacy and Strategic Negotiation

This double-degree program is offered by AGSIRD in partnership with French University Paris Sud 11 (Sceaux).

Program at Université Paris Sud 11

  • The objective of the Master's program at UPS 11 is to provide students with the necessary practical tools and abilities to develop strategies of negotiation in diplomacy, which can be applied to both the public and the private sector.

  • The Master's program at UPS has a dual focus: French and European Diplomacy, and Negotiation.

  • The coursework consists of negotiation working groups, occasional guest speakers, and a simulation trip conducted with the participation of an international organization.

Organization of the joint program

  • Courses at AGSIRD are taught in English. Courses at UPS 11 are taught in French and English.

  • The Master's program at UPS 11 lasts one year, and starts in the second or third semester of the AGSIRD Master's program which allows students to acquire the proper proficiency in French.

  • Courses are held both at AGSIRD and at the UPS 11 campus in Sceaux (20 minutes from Paris).

  • Through the double-degree program, AGSIRD courses count both toward the American Master's and the European Master's degree, so that the coursework at UPS 11 for AGSIRD students consists of one weekly session and an end-of-year simulation trip. Additional field trips or other special projects support the program.
