Internships

AGSIRD students have the opportunity to do internships as part of their M.A. or Ph.D. program. Each internship is for one semester, and receives 3 credits as an elective course. Up to two internships per degree can count for credit.

Internship projects are approved by AGSIRD in order to ensure that they complement the program and the job aspirations of the student. This guarantees that students make the most of the opportunity to adapt their academic knowledge to professional life in their field of interest, to explore career paths, to acquire relevant hands-on practice, and to make important professional contacts.

AGSIRD ensures that interning students incorporate their internship experience into the academic program, by assiging them an internship director who guides them in the fulfillment of written and oral requirements:

  • Researching and writing a paper on their internship (12 pages minimum).

  • An oral report and discussion of the paper to be presented by the intern at the end of the internship to the internship director.

In order to help students in their internship search, AGSIRD has developed regular agreements with a network of organizations, benefitting from its Paris location and the nearby presence of embassies, diplomatic missions, governmental agencies, NGO's, multi-national private corporations, etc.

In the past, AGSIRD students have interned at :

  • United Nations

  • UNEP (United Nations Environment Program)

  • UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization)

  • OECD (Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development)

  • INTERPOL
