Certificates and Single Courses

Certificate programs

The certificate programs at the School of International Relations are designed for students and professionals who wish to deepen or complement their knowledge in a particular field of international relations.

They are part-time programs consisting of two-course modules taken over one or two semesters. Students in this program earn a Certificate in International Relations specifying the courses that they successfully completed.

Single courses

Students and professionals may enroll in single courses for professional training, for personal enrichment, or for credit transfer to another program. Non-degree courses may either be audited or taken for a letter grade. Students who want to transfer credits taken at AGSIRD to another program must take the course for a letter grade. Auditing students are not required to hand in written assignments or sit for exams, but are expected to do all required reading, attend all classes, and fully participate in class discussions.

Course offering

To read the course descriptions please see the graduate curriculum.

To find out when courses are offered please see the four-semester course offering.

Transferring to a degree program at AGSIRD

Courses followed as single courses or as part of the AGSIRD certificate program can be transferred to a full degree-program (M.A. or Ph.D.) at AGSIRD or at another institution, depending on the institution's transfer policy. To change from the non-degree program to a full M.A. or Ph.D. program at AGSIRD, students must then re-submit a complete application.
