Admission Requirements

The summer, semester or academic year undergraduate study abroad programs are open to applicants who meet the following requirements:

  • The applicant must be enrolled in an undergraduate (or foreign-equivalent) program

  • The applicant must be proficient in English (minimum TOEFL score of 76 for the Internet-based test/543 for the paper-based test; minimum IELTS score of 6)

  • The applicant must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale


How to Apply

Applicants for the semester study abroad program should submit:

  • A completed Application Form
    Please download the application form by clicking here.

  • A personal statement
    The personal statement assists the admissions committee to get to know you better. Write about why you wish to spend a semester(s) abroad, why in Paris, and what your objectives are after graduation. This should be no more than one page. Attach this to your application.

  • Official transcripts
    From the university where the applicant is currently pursuing an undergraduate degree

  • A letter of recommendation
    This letter should be from a professor who is teaching you, or has taught you, during your current degree program.
    Letters should be written on headed paper.
    The letter of recommendation should be sent by your referee to the following address:
    American Graduate School in Paris
    101, boulevard Raspail
    75006 Paris, France

    We will accept a letter of recommendation by email, as long as the original is then mailed to the address above.
    Please indicate the name of your referee on the application form.

  • Non-native speakers of English who are not studying in an English language degree program in an English-speaking country must submit either a TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or IELTS (International English Language Testing System) score. See admission requirements above.

  • A copy of the front page of your passport

  • An application fee of € 50
    This application fee is non-refundable. It can be paid online here

Notes:

Please note that all documents in a language other than English or French must be accompanied by certified translations. Notarized translations alone will not be accepted. Translations do not replace original documents; please remember to send both.

All documentation submitted will be confidential. Application materials cannot be returned once submitted to the American Graduate School in Paris.
