Read more...Professor Graziano's latest book has been accepted for publication by Columbia University Press. The subject is the geopolitics of religions: Manlio Graziano explains why, and when, religion has gained back its major role and impact in international relations. The French manuscript is currently being translated into English under the working title Holy War or Holy Alliance, and the book will be released in 2015. An Italian translation is also expected for publication this coming October by Italy's leading publishing house for political works (Guerra Santa o Santa Alleanza, Bologna: Il Mulino, 2014.)

Manlio Graziano is a specialist of geopolitics and geopolitics of religions, and has authored several books on the subject, including The Failure of Italian Nationhood: The geopolitics of a Troubled Identity (New York: Palgrave Macmillan, 2010). See full profile here.

 
Professor Graziano Invited to China as a Guest Professor of Geopolitics

Read more...Professor Manlio Graziano was invited to Suzhou, China to teach a two-week course module on geopolitics to Master's students of Business. His classes provide a perspective on the political context within the international community of the countries with which these students, as future actors of the global business arena, will have the opportunity to interact. An hour from Shangai, known for its beautiful traditional gardens and its many water canals, Suzhou is also one of the most technologically advanced cities in the world, ranking as the second most important industrial center in the country, and hosting a population of two millions and offices of over one hundred international companies.

Professor Graziano is a specialist of geopolitics and geopolitics of religions, and has authored several books on these subjects (see profile) his most recent publication is an article on President Obama's trip to Japan, appearing in Italian in La Voce di New York (see article.)

 

 
Manlio Graziano Interviewed About Role of Church in Venezualan Politics

Read more...Professor Manlio Graziano was interviewed by the global information website Jol Press to comment on the recent invitation made to Vatican's Secretary of State Pietro Parolin to participate in the negotiations between the government and the opposition in Venezuela. As a specialist of geopolitics of religions, Professor Graziano commented on the role of the Church in politics and international relations, explaining that the Catholic Church has over a millenium of history as a de facto political force based on its influence on the population in many countries.

Already published in Italian, French and English, this book has received very positive reviews in prominent media:

Prof. Graziano Publishes Article on the Geopolitics of Democracy

Read more...Professor Manlio Graziano published an article entitled "Towards a Geopolitics of Democracy" on Washington DC's Center for International Relations' online publication as well as on the Eurasian Review of Geopolitics Heartland. Looking at the democratic process through the lens of geopolitics, Professor Graziano advocates for a systematic study of the reciprocal influence of geopolitics and democracy. He predicts that the recent phenomena of the Arab Spring and of the acceleration of the European integration process may prompt that approach. Two Master's candidates in the International Relations and Diplomacy program at AGS contributed to the English translation of this article - Kryssandra Heslop (class of 2013) and Cullen Stewart (class of 2012).

Read more...A Spanish translation of Professor Graziano's book on the geopolitics of the Catholic Church, was recently published in Spain: El Siglo Catòlico: La Estrategia Geopolìtica della Iglesia (Barcelona: RBA 2012).

Read more...Originally published in Italian under the title: Il Secolo Cattolico. La strategia geopolitica della Chiesa (Rome-Bari: Laterza, 2010), this book shows through in-depth analysis and with great simplicity, how the Catholic Church has sought to become a major player in international relations in the 21st Century. Prof. Graziano examines the strategy it has pursued since the Second Vatican Concile to place religion at the center of public life, through a discourse emphasizing issues such as nuclear family, contraception, abortion, and homosexuality, as well as issues related to immigration.

Read more...Professor Manlio Graziano, who teaches at AGS and at La Sorbonne in Paris, was interviewed in the Canadian newspaper La Presse on November 8 about Silvio Berlusconi's politics and his government's legacy following the announcement of his resignation. "Berlusconi represents the Italy of comfort and consumption that has been living on credit since the beginning of the 80's", says Professor Graziano.

La Presse was founded in 1884 and is one of the major daily newspapers in Quebec.

After an introduction by Dr. Stanislao Pugliese, Modern History Professor at Hofstra University, Dr. Graziano gave a presentation on his book which seeks to explains the political instability of Italy and the reasons why the Italian State was never really unified as a nation. This book was written originally in French under the title L'Italie, un Etat Sans Nation? (Toulouse: Eres, 2007), then translated into Italian (Italia Senza Nazione? Rome: Donzelli, 2007), and finally into English.

Read more...Professor Manlio Graziano published an article about the geopolitical relations between France and Germany in the latest issue of Italy's leading journal on geopolitics Limes. His article is entitled "Come riunire i franchi dell’Est e dell’Ovest" (How to bring together East and West Franks).

Prof. Graziano is a specialist of geopolitics and the geopolitics of Religion, as well as European affairs and Italian History. His most recent books include The Failure of Italian Nationhood: The Geopolitics of a Troubled Identity (New York: Palgrave Macmillan, 2010) which was also published in French and Italian.
